Salem Bat Removal Tip:
5 Natural Bat Deterrents
When the bats are looking for a shelter, they will choose the warm, undisturbed, and safe place to roost. Our residential structure makes the perfect abode since it meets their criteria. The acrid scent that is produced by the bat dropping is a tell-tale sign of a bat infestation. Remember that there are certain health risks related with bat guanos. While deterrents will not provide a long-term answer to your woes, it will give you enough time to look for a better solution.
Natural Deterrents against Bats
Be aware that some bat control methods may not be permitted by your local laws. Fortunately, there are ways to deter these bats from roosting in your space. By creating a less-conducive space, you can make your house uncomfortable for the bats.
1. Aerosol Pest Repellent
This product is specifically aimed towards pest. However, it may also work against bats, but only to a certain extent. You can avail this on your local garden or pest control shops. Some homeowners will use this to prevent their pets from chewing furniture and carpets. This repellent will have a bitter taste. The powerful scent of the pepper can also irritate the sensitive olfactory nerve of the animal. You will have to regularly spray the solution to ensure that it will maintain its efficacy.
2. Bird Gels
Bird gels are intended for the birds, but it can ruin their feathers and will make it difficult for them to fly. However, for the bats that do not have feathers, this may actually work. Simply apply the gel on the favorite roosting site of the bats. The sticky substance will cause them discomfort that will encourage them to look for a more suitable roosting site.
3. Bird Spikes
Another deterrent that is designed for the birds that you can also use against bats would be bird spikes or bird needles. These are not made to cause injury to the bats. The spikes will be installed on the roosting site. Choose the bird needle with tiny spikes to make it difficult for the bats to roost.
4. Eucalyptus Oil
The scent of the eucalyptus oil is overpowering that can irritate the bats. While it is originally used against insects to mask the pheromones that they release, it can also be used against bats. Simply add the oil to the alcohol. This will make the oil soluble on water. Mix the solution on water and spray it directly on the roosting site of the bats.
5. Phenol
The odor that the phenol is releasing will make it an excellent repellent against bat. It has a noxious scent that irritates the bat's sense of scent. You can buy phenol in the market and place it inside the spray bottle. The phenol is a volatile substance. You will have to replace it regularly.
Deterrents can be effective but there are some limitations on its efficacy. If you want a better solution for your bat problem, reach out to your local bat removal experts today.
