New York City Bat Removal Tip:

4 Steps in Cleaning Bat Droppings on Concrete Surface

The bat guano will often be found in the abandoned building and on the obscure space in our house. The droppings of the bat can carry fungal spores and pathogens and you need to be extra cautious when you are cleaning them. We highly discourage the use of vacuum or sweeping since this can disturb the fungal spores and will be carried to the air.

Tips to Remove the Bat Dropping on Concretes

Cleaning the bat guano can be a tiring and strenuous process. It can also expose you to certain health risks. It is also difficult to remove the stains if you do not know how to properly clean it.

1. Prepare All the Materials

Before you start the process, you will have to prepare all the materials. Start on the things that you will wear while cleaning. You need to make sure that it will be comfortable but at the same time it should keep you safe from the related risks. Your shoes should be able to provide a good traction. You should also wear long-sleeved shirt to prevent the direct contact with your skin. You should not hold the guano barehanded. Wear a disposable glove and face mask. You should also have something that will protect your eyes. Cleaning materials should include brushes with tough bristles, cleaning solutions, bleach, etc.

2. Improve the Air Circulation

After collecting the necessary materials, you should try to improve the quality of air inside. Open all the windows and ventilation. Also, do not forget to spray water directly on the bat guano. This will prevent the fungal spores from being airborne. Leave the room for at least 15 minutes before you start cleaning the bat guano.

3. Cleaning the Bat Guano

Manually pick the bat guano and place it inside the garbage bag. Remove all the contaminated material such as the insulation. Dispose it together with the bat guano. For the bat droppings that are stuck in the wall, you might want to clean it with pressurized water especially if there are no materials that will be damaged by the water. For the tough stains you can use a brush with hard bristle to remove them.

4. Removing the Stains

After removing the droppings, expect that there will be stains left on the concrete. You may try to eliminate the stains using baking soda. Simply apply a baking soda on the stain and wait for a couple of minutes before brushing the stain. This should be enough to eliminate the stains. For those who are looking for an alternative stain remover, vinegar or bleach can also be effective. If this failed to work, consider repainting the concrete to hide the stains.

Finally, you need to make sure that you will never deal with the same situation in the future. Try to call the help of the bat professionals who will provide you with the essential guide on how you can avoid bat infestation and clean the waste products that they will leave behind.
