Worcester Bat Removal Tip:

Will Bats Chew Wire?

Bats are not like rodents that love chewing on stuff. Their fangs are designed for piercing and not for chewing. The teeth of the bats are significantly small that makes it difficult for them to chew the wires. It will not be enough to cause any significant damage to the wires. Since they can easily fit into small holes, they do not need to chew wires in order to get access inside your attic.

Bats and Your Electrical Wires

The bats are insectivores and there is absolutely no reason for them to chew our electrical wires. Rodents are chewing wires since they will need to control the growth of their teeth. They will also be using the insulation of the wires as nest materials. However, bats do not need to control the growth of their teeth and they do not need this as their nesting material since they are secondary cavity-nesters.

How Are Bats Being Exposed to the Electrical Wires?

If you notice that there are some exposed live wires in your attic during the bat infestation, this may not be due to their chewing habit. We mentioned before that the droppings of the bat have acidic content. This can easily corrode the insulation of the wires. The danger that is associated with the exposed live wire should never be undermined. It can lead to fire, accidental electrocution, sudden increase on energy consumption, electrical failures, etc. You will need to know how to avoid this situation.

How to Prevent This

Excluding the bats from our house would be an excellent way to control the damages that they can cause. You will start by inspecting the different areas of your house to determine the possible entry points that they are using. Once you identify the holes, you will need to seal it and install the exclusion device on the last hole. Be sure that you will choose the exclusion device that will not harm the creature. You should not immediately remove the device. Wait for 2 weeks until the signs of bat activities are gone.

Another option is to provide the bats with a more accessible roosting site. You can construct a bat house away from your house. Be certain that you will introduce this ahead of their nesting season. This will allow the bats to be accustomed to the presence of the bat house. Avoid using repellent that doesn't work. Machine deterrents also have limitations with regards their effectiveness.

Hire the Service of the Professionals

If the bat keeps on returning to your home or if the bat infestation happens during the middle of their nesting season and you can't wait until the babies are strong enough to survive on their own, you should consider hiring the service of the professional bat remover. They carry the necessary license that allows them to get rid of the animal legally.

Bats do not have the ability to chew on wires. Their teeth are small that only creates punctured wounds. It does not have the strength to tear on the insulation of the electrical wires.
